On cable you get a great pipe down but limited upload. With Fiber you get consistent variables of upload and download. Xfinity may offer 1000 down but only 200 up whereas fibers for the same offers 1000 up and down. The closer the upload and download speeds the least amount of latency is caused on your end. Should I get Comcast or AT&T? Which ISP is better and why. I'm one person in a small house. I want good fast internet despite me being one person and want to go no lower than 40mbps, around 50mbps max is fine with me. $50-$70 price range before tax is fine I imagine. tldr- Verizon Fios vs Xfinity? $90/mo for 1Gig at Verizon, $70/mo for 900M at Xfinity. Verizon includes the stock router, Xfinity charges $14/mo for theirs. Verizon has new customer “gifts” and Xfinity does not. And should we ditch the ISP provided router and bring our own, or stick with the stock router? ————— XFINITY vs AT&T. Ok so I’m currently on a 150mbs plan from XFINITY. It’s really bad. Constant drops in storms, frequent days where there is upwards of 50% packet loss, shitty customer support (had to wait 2 weeks for an “advanced” tech to call me about my packet loss and I didn’t even get the call) . For someone who streams frequently ...I had Comcast before. Comcast was fine but the gigabit fiber is way more consistent. If I had a choice I’d go fiber over cable anytime. AT&T may own the lines but the support on the backend is the most important part. A lot of the fiber is owned by AT&T but I'd never use them for just having piss poor support even at the business level.Xfinity Blast vs AT&T Internet 100 Hello everyone, I’ve been having so many issues with my xfinity WIFI lately and not to mention they don’t want to refund me $200 after sending back their xFi Pods 30 days late even though they delivered it to me passing the 30 days.I use Metronet and they are great. I'd say try astound just to get away from Comcast as long as the contract can be broken for cheap/nothing and you can go back to comcast. Honestly, RCN when it first came out was amazing, gig internet for like 50 a month. It slowly crept up in price and after the merger we constantly had issues with our internet dropping. We stuck with RCN for a few years due to my Hatred of Comcast. Now surprisingly Comcast has actually been pretty good. Really no downtime or outages to speak of ...Also, AT&T doesn't have random maintenance service outages either like Xfinity. In the 3 years that I've had AT&T internet it has literally not gone out once, and my price has never gone up either. And I pay a lot less now. I also have AT&T TV Now, so they automatically added the unlimited internet upgrade ($30) for free. .
